The Austin Blues Society is actively soliciting nominations for positions on its Board of Directors. Participating as an officer or member of the Board of Directors of the Austin Blues Society offers the chance to work with some of the most genuine and talented people in Austin!
You’ll have an unparalleled opportunity to broaden and polish your professional and organizational skills, and you’ll enjoy the freedom to apply your creativity to the challenges involved in orchestrating the future of the society. Most importantly, you’ll take pride in giving back to your community!
We are accepting nominations through Monday, March 5th, 2018. The following positions are open for nominations:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Secretary
Board Member (up to 16 positions)
Self-nominations are welcome, as are nominations of persons you would like to see fill these positions. If you’re nominating someone other than yourself, please make an effort to confirm with them that they are willing to run before nominating them.
Board Member duties include:
Promoting the blues art form and its practitioners
Attending regular board meetings
Planning, assisting and attending society functions and events
Soliciting board and volunteer participation
Duties of the President include:
Presiding at meetings
Appointing committees
Assuring all board-approved policies and resolutions are carried out
Duties of the Vice President include:
Acting in President’s stead when the President is unavailable
Advising the President on all society matters
Duties of the Treasurer include:
Managing the treasury
Approving financial transactions, including reimbursements
Filing of annual reports
Duties of the Secretary include:
Serving notice of all board meetings
Recording and posting official minutes for all board meetings
